Essay: My Favorite Hobby

After performing all the professional duties, the job which a human does in his leisure hours to entertain himself and for his mental and spiritual satisfaction, is given the name "Hobby". Everyone has his own state of mind therefore he has some likings according to his own nature. A person adopts a hobby in his life which is of his interest and can develop curiosity in him. The purpose of adopting a certain hobby may not be earning income but is the name of the business of a person in such a job in which he invests from his own if necessary. There are various hobbies adopted by the people, for example: collecting tickets, collecting coins, photography, drawing, painting, swimming, cycling, books reading, watching movies, traveling, gardening, writing articles, etc. Some people make eating and sleeping their hobby.

As far as I am concerned, my favorite hobby is gardening. In my free time I become busy in gardening and enjoy it so much. There could be so many reasons for a person to adopt a specific hobby. First reason is the natural temperament of a person means his state of mind. Second reason is the availability of the resources for adopting a hobby. The hobby of gardening was inherited to me from my father. My father was on the designation of a horticulturist that is why he was very fond of gardening. Secondly we have been provided a large beautiful house for residence. There is a huge separate land on the back side of the house. I am using that for gardening. Various types of plants, seeds, fertilizers and insecticides are provided. Therefore I consume much less money from my pocket on my hobby. 

I was a little kid when my father used to sow the seeds of different plants and grow them very carefully and sincerely. I used to sit by my father and see each and every work he used to do. I used to enjoy seeing all that. There are many servants for cleaning the garden, watering the plants and looking after them. In spite of that I by myself take too much interest in passing my free time in beautiful and colorful plants. It is very soothing for me and I feel very glad while staying in my garden. Instead of sitting in the company of bad people I prefer to spend most of my time with my lovely and graceful plants and actually they need me. I work with my plants with great interest and pleasure.

I have allocated nearly one acre land for my garden and I have divided my garden into four parts. In first part I grow various vegetables according to the season. In this way many fresh vegetables become available to our family and sometimes I send some fresh vegetables to my friends and relatives as a gift. Truthfully speaking the taste and pleasure of eating the fresh vegetables grown in one's own garden is undoubtedly matchless. Which vegetable should be cultivated in which season and when plants should be watered. I ask all these questions from my father and he guides me very well and I follow his instructions very carefully.
 
Second part of my garden is for such plants which do not need frequent cutting and cleaning. These plants have increased the beauty of my garden. I have grown many beautiful flowering plants in this portion. I water these plants once in a week and I remove dry leaves and wilted flowers twice in a month. I decorate my drawing room with these colorful and highly fragrant flowering plants. When guests come they feel very glad after seeing them and praises me a lot.
 
In third part of my garden I have such plants which bloom completely and show their beauty and gracefulness for only two to three months, afterwards they start wilting. Then I start growing other plants in place of them. These plants include many national and international plants. Nearly whole the year my garden remains loaded with beautiful, attractive and colorful plants. Sometimes I use them to make lovely bookay for my friends and family.

The last and fourth part of my garden is just for few fruit plants which include lemon, orange, apricot, walnut, apple, guava, pomegranate and plum. I three to four plants of each fruit. I supply pure and clean nutrients and fertilizers to these plants before their fruiting season. When I get the fruit from these plants I send them to my friends and relatives.

I have arranged all the four portions of my garden in a circular design in the center of which I made a high grassy location and I have set there six chairs and one table. Usually on holiday, my friends and cousins come to me then we sit here and have a lot of fun. They praise me and my garden and I feel very proud and glad. I feel real and deep relief by smelling the magnificent fragrance of beautiful flowers. i love my garden and all the plants in it. I cannot live without them. I look after all of the plants very carefully and can never bear their exposure to any harm.

I think gardening is the best and profitable of all the hobbies. In worst economic conditions I can sell my vegetables and fruits to earn a good income to meet my basic requirements. Gardening is very useful hobby. It becomes a way for your time passing, it makes your body healthy and active, it keeps you in healthy and clean environment and protects you from the hazards of pollution. I suggest all the students especially those living in the villages that they must adopt the hobby of gardening because in villages there are too much resources available to enjoy this hobby. I love this hobby very much and I will remain stuck to my lovely hobby as long as I am alive.
